Viking belt studs

 

Replica of Viking belt studs in Borre style, based on fids from Birka, Sweden. Made in solid bronze (yellowish shade). All our belt fittings are solid pieces of sterling silver or bronze, these aren’t thin plates, but a historical Viking adornment built to last.

Wealthy Vikings loved to show their social status by wearing precious jewelry, but also by wearing belts with beautiful fittings, like elaborate buckles and strap ends, but often also with many studs. These belt studs are faithful replicas from belt set found in Viking grave in Birka, Sweden. The whole belt had a number of almost 40 belt studs in two kinds! Original belt find was made in bronze and you can find all elements of this set in bronze too in our shop.

Viking belt fitting knot Borre style

 

This Viking belt fitting is made in the Borre art style (825-970) and is based on an original fitting excavated in the Viking trading town Birka. The fitting shows a mirrored knot and a triangular shape. It can also be used for decorating leather bags or even shoes. It measures 1,7 x 1,6 cm and is silver coloured or brass coloured.

Viking belt fitting Denmark

 

This belt fitting is made in the Jellinge style (890-990). It can be used as decoration on leather objects, like belts and bags. It measures 1,8 x 2,5 cm and is bronze coloured.

The decoration of this belt fitting is based on the decoration of the silver cup excavated from the pagan chamber-grave at Jelling, Jutland, Denmark. King Gorm was presumably buried here. This cup shows the same ribbon-animal decoration with striped bodies and heads in profile with round eyes. This cup has given the Jellinge style its name.

Viking belt fitting Birka

 

This fitting can be used for decorating belt ends and bags. It is based on an original from Birka from the 10th century. It measures 2×2 cm and is bronze coloured.

It is inspired on the art style of the Magyars. The Magyars were a nomadic people that invaded Europe during the 9th century AD and settled in Hungary. The eastern Vikings traded with them and presumably used their art motives in their own objects. Birka was a city where Vikings from whole Europe traded and exchanged items, like this fitting.

Heart-shaped Viking belt fitting

 

This belt fitting is made after a historical original excavated in the Viking trading town of Birka in Sweden. It is inspired on the art style of the Magyars. The fitting can be used for decorating belt straps or leather bags. It measures 3 x 2,8 cm and is bronze coloured.
